Dr. Khouzam’s particular areas of expertise include robotic and advanced laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery. He performs endoscopic procedures and laparoscopic surgery for morbid obesity and has special interests and vast experience in many areas, including these laparoscopic procedures:
- Anti-reflux surgery
- Esophageal surgery
- Colon resection
- Adrenalectomy and splenectomy
- Hernia repair
Board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Khouzam has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on many research grants. He has also published many papers, abstracts and book chapters related to gastrointestinal surgery and laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Khouzam is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the International College of Surgeons. He’s a member of many professional and scientific societies including the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).
Tedros Andom, MD

Tedros Andom, MD, is a graduate of University of Louisville Medical School. He also completed general surgery training at the same institution. Dr. Andom is board certified in General Surgery and specializes in Advanced Minimally Invasive, Laparoscopic and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. He has played an important role in proctoring and training other surgeons to implement da Vinci robotic surgery into their practice across the nation.
Dr. Andom has been in private practice in Springfield OH since 2008. He performs a wide variety of General Surgery procedures including Endoscopic, Open and Advanced Minimally Invasive surgery.
Dr. Andom continues to serve the medical community of Clark and Champaign County in different ways; President of Clark County Medical Society in 2011, Chairman of Department of Surgery 2012-2014. In addition, he has been presented with Physician of the year Award twice, in 2012 and 2015.
Terry Carman, MD

Bariatric and DaVinci Robotic Surgeon
Dr. Carman is a staff surgeon at Mercy Health Springfield with expertise in robotic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Terry Carman is a native of Ohio and is a graduate of Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Florida. He obtained his medical degree at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. His residency was completed at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio. He pursued and finished additional fellowship training at Harper University Hospital in Detroit, Michigan in the areas of minimally invasive and bariatric surgery.

- He has presented at several national meetings and published several academic journal articles
Dr. Carman resides in central Ohio and in his free time enjoys spending time with family, exercising, and traveling to new parts of the globe
Colleen Alexander, MD
Board Certified General Surgeon
Interventional Gastroenterology, General and DaVinci Robotic Surgeon
Dr. Alexander is from Columbus, Ohio and grew up a Buckeye. She went to The Ohio State University for her undergraduate degree in Biology, then attended Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia for medical school. After completing her 5-year residency, Dr. Alexander completed a 1-year fellowship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy and Gastrointestinal Surgery, where she learned to perform ERCP (endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) and POEM (per oral endoscopic myotomy) in addition to other procedures.
In September 2018 Dr. Alexander joined Bon Secours Mercy Health as a General Surgeon and ERCP specialist practicing in Springfield and Urbana. She enjoys many types of surgery including gallbladder, hernia, colon and small bowel, spleen, parathyroid, and thyroid surgeries. She uses minimally invasive approaches such as laparoscopic or robotic surgery whenever possible. Dr. Alexander also enjoys endoscopic procedures including ERCP, POEM, upper endoscopy (EGD), and colonoscopy.
Kaylene Blalock, APRN-CNP
Kaylene Blalock is a nurse practitioner who completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Otterbein University and her Master’s degree in Nursing at Ohio University in 2015. Kaylene is board certified through The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and is a Family Nurse Practitioner, licensed in Ohio. She has been a nurse practitioner since 2015. Kaylene collaborates with our specialty surgeons and registered dietician, providing surgical and non-surgical weight loss options for the program. Kaylene focuses her practice on educating patients on the disease of obesity and the detrimental comorbidities associated with this disease. Kaylene received the highest patient satisfaction award for the APP’s in 2018 and strives to provide the highest patient care.
Janel Jones, PA-C
General Surgery and DaVinci Robotic Services
Board Certified Physician Assistant Janel jones is the newest addition to the outstanding physicians and staff at Mercy health Springfield General and Robotic Surgery. Prior to joining Mercy health, Janel Served as a Physician Assistant at the clinical Neuroscience institute in Dayton and the Springfield Orthopedics and Sport’s Medicine Institute.
Janel received her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the Ohio Dominican University in 2016 and her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of Cincinnati in 2012.
Janel has completed more than 10 clinical rotations, gaining experience in a number of areas including, Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Medicine, Orthopedic Medicine, Women’s Health and General Surgery.
Jaqueline Dahlberg MS, RDN, LD
A licensed and registered dietitian, Jackie graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics. She completed a dietetic internship at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, OH, and earned a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science Education from the University of Dayton. Jackie holds a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She is also a certified personal trainer.
